Bw Joho amemtaka Bw Gachagua kuacha kumhusisha na madai yasiyothibitishwa, akisema hatatishwa na mwanasiasa huyo. "Jana aliyekuwa naibu rais Gachagua alitaja jina langu. Namwomba aache kunitaja katika kashfa zozote," alisema Bw Joho. Akizungumza eneo la Ganze Kaunti ya Kilifi, Jumanne, Waziri huyo alisema yuko tayari kupambana na Bw Gachagua iwapo ataendelea kumhusisha na tuhuma mbalimbali. "Mimi si mwoga na usinijaribu. Nikifungua mdomo wangu hamtaamini," alisema. Bw Joho pia alimtaka Bw Gachagua kwanza ajibu madai yanayomhusu ya kunyanyasa familia ya ndugu yake marehemu kabla ya kuanza kuwashtaki viongozi wengine. Kauli hizo zilijiri siku moja baada ya Bw Gachagua kudai kuwa baadhi ya maafisa wakuu serikalini na katika Tume Huru ya Uchaguzi na Mipaka (IEBC) wanahusika katika njama ya kuingilia uchaguzi mkuu wa 2027. Akizungumza katika makazi yake ya Wamunyoro Jumatatu, Bw Gachagua alidai kuwa kuna mpango wa kuleta mfumo mpya wa kusimamia uchaguzi ambao unaweza kutumiwa kuiba kura. Alimtaja Rais William Ruto, Bw Joho na naibu mwenyekiti wa IEBC kama baadhi ya watu anaodai wanahusishwa na mpango huo. "Kuna kitu kingine wanataka kufanya hapo kwa IEBC wakiwa na Joho, na Naibu Mwenyekiti wa IEBC. Kuna mfumo wanataka kuleta ya kuiba kura," alisema. Kiongozi huyo wa DCP alidai kuwa IEBC ilikuwa ikiandaa zabuni maalum ya Integrated Election Management System (IEMS), ambayo alidai ingeipendelea kampuni ya Korea Kusini, Miru Systems Company Ltd. Hata hivyo, hakutoa ushahidi wa madai hayo na alisema bado alikuwa akithibitisha taarifa kabla ya kutoa maelezo kamili kwa Wakenya. Bw Gachagua pia alidai kuwa baadhi ya wanasiasa hutumia taarifa nyeti kufanya mazungumzo ya kisiasa na serikali, akisema yeye hangefanya hivyo bali angewafahamisha Wakenya. Madai hayo yameibua mjadala mpya kuhusu uhuru wa IEBC na uwazi katika maandalizi ya uchaguzi wa 2027. Hadi Jumanne, serikali na IEBC hazikuwa zimethibitisha madai maalum kuhusu mpango huo wa ununuzi wa mfumo wa uchaguzi. IEBC imekuwa ikikabiliwa na shinikizo kutoka kwa vyama vya kisiasa na washikadau kuhakikisha maandalizi ya uchaguzi yanafanywa kwa uwazi na bila kuingiliwa kisiasa. Mzozo huo unatarajiwa kuongeza wasiwasi kuhusu teknolojia itakayotumika katika uchaguzi mkuu wa Agosti 2027.
