Hichilema atarajiwa kujinyakulia 'Tutam' kirahisi baada ya kuimarisha uchumi Zambia
LUSAKA, Zambia: Raia wa Zambia sasa wanasubiri matokeo ya urais baada ya kupiga kura hapo Alhamisi, Agosti 13, 2026. Uchaguzi huo pia ni kuwapata wabunge na viongozi wa serikali za manispaa. Rais Hakainde Hichilema anaonekana kuwa na nafasi kubwa ya kushinda muhula wa pili baada ya kuiongoza Zambia katika kipindi cha miaka mitano ambacho uchumi ulionekana kuimarika sana. Hichilema, aliyeingia madarakani mnamo 2021, amefanikisha mageuzi, akapunguza deni la taifa na kusaidia uchumi kuanza kuimarika baada ya Zambia kushindwa kulipa madeni yake mnamo 2020. Hata hivyo, gharama ya maisha imekuwa suala kuu kwa wapiga kura licha ya uchumi kuimarika. James Phiri, 29 mwanafunzi wa Chuo Kikuu cha Zambia, alisema alimpigia kura Hichilema kwa sababu anaamini ameboresha maisha ya wananchi, akitaja kurejeshwa kwa marupurupu ya chakula kwa wanafunzi wa vyuo vikuu. Mundubile, ambaye ni mbunge mwenye uzoefu lakini anawania urais kwa mara ya kwanza, anaungwa mkono na muungano wa upinzani unaohusisha wafuasi wa rais wa zamani, marehemu Edgar Lungu. Wadadisi wa masuala ya kisiasa wanasema upinzani una nguvu Lusaka na Copperbelt, huku chama tawala kikitarajiwa kufanya vizuri zaidi maeneo ya vijijini. Uchaguzi huo pia umeandamwa na madai ya ukandamizaji wa kisiasa, ingawa serikali imekanusha tuhuma hizo. Mshindi wa urais lazima apate zaidi ya asilimia 50 ya kura, la sivyo, wawili wanaoongoza watakutana katika duru ya pili ndani ya siku 37.

Gavana ahepa makao makuu ya thamani ya Sh740 milioni
