Serikali yapunguza bei ya mbolea na mbegu za mahindi kuokoa wakulima Bonde la Ufa
SERIKALI imepunguza zaidi bei ya mbolea na mbegu za mahindi katika juhudi za kuwasaidia wakulima wa Bonde la Ufa waliopata hasara kutokana na ukame. Bei ya mfuko wa kilo 50 wa mbolea umepunguzwa kutoka Sh2,500 hadi Sh2,000, huku bei ya kilo moja ya mbegu bora za mahindi ikishushwa kwa nusu kutoka Sh300 hadi Sh150. Hii inamaanisha pakiti ya kilo mbili itauzwa kwa Sh300 badala ya Sh600, huku mfuko wa kilo 10 ukigharimu Sh1,500 kutoka Sh3,000. Mfuko wa kilo 25 utauzwa Sh3,750 badala ya Sh7,500. Serikali italipa tofauti hiyo kupitia mpango mpya wa ruzuku. Rais William Ruto alitangaza hatua hizo wakati wa ziara yake Pwani, akisema serikali yake inalenga kupunguza mzigo kwa wakulima waliopata hasara kutokana na ukame. "Serikali yangu ilihama kutoka kutoa ruzuku kwa matumizi hadi kutoa ruzuku kwa uzalishaji kwa kupunguza gharama ya pembejeo. Hii itawawezesha wakulima kuzalisha zaidi katika hatua itakayoimarisha usalama wa chakula nchini," akasema Rais Ruto. Kiongozi wa nchi alisema bei hizo mpya zitaanza kutumika Septemba katika vituo vilivyoteuliwa, kikiwemo Bodi ya Kitaifa ya Nafaka na Mazao (NCPB). Waziri wa Kilimo Mutahi Kagwe alisema mpango wa ruzuku ya mbegu unalenga kilo milioni 40 na utagharimu serikali Sh6 bilioni.
