Zambia, yenye wakazi milioni 22 na ikiwa mzalishaji wa pili kwa ukubwa wa shaba Afrika, ina historia ya mabadiliko ya uongozi kwa amani kupitia uchaguzi. Tangu mfumo wa vyama vingi kurejeshwa 1991, mabadiliko katika uchaguzi wa wanaoshikilia afisi za rais yamefanyika kupitia uchaguzi.
