Dawa ya kupunguza unene yaidhinishwa nchini; lakini unajua ni kina nani wanakubaliwa?

BODI ya Famasia na Sumu (PPB) imeidhinisha dawa kadhaa kwa matibabu ya kisukari na kudhibiti uzani, huku wataalamu wakionya kuhusu ongezeko la visa vya unene na kisukari nchini. Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) linasema semaglutide ni dawa inayotolewa kwa agizo la daktari na hufanya kazi kama homoni ya asili mwilini kwa kupunguza kiwango cha sukari kwenye damu na hamu ya kula. WHO iliongeza semaglutide kwenye orodha yake ya dawa muhimu Septemba mwaka jana. PPB ilisema usajili huo ulifuatia tathmini ya ubora, usalama na ufanisi wa dawa hizo, ambazo zinauzwa kwa majina tofauti. Kufikia sasa, Kenya ilikuwa na bidhaa mbili asili za semaglutide, Ozempic na Wegovy, zinazotengenezwa na kampuni ya Denmark ya Novo Nordisk. Dawa ya kawaida, Truglyx, ilizinduliwa Nairobi mwezi uliopita. PPB imeonya kuwa matumizi yaliyoidhinishwa ya kila dawa ni maalum na hayapaswi kuchanganywa. Ozempic imeidhinishwa kwa watu wazima wenye kisukari cha aina ya pili ambacho hakidhibitiwi vizuri, pamoja na lishe na mazoezi. Wegovy imeidhinishwa mahsusi kwa udhibiti wa uzani kwa watu wazima. "Ni muhimu kuelewa matumizi yaliyoidhinishwa kwa kila bidhaa," alisema Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa PPB Dkt Ahmed Mohamed. Dawa za kawaida hugharimu kati ya Sh13,000 na Sh18,500 kwa mwezi, huku dawa asili zikigharimu kati ya Sh50,000 na Sh75,000 kwa sindano. PPB imeonya umma dhidi ya kutumia dawa hizo bila ushauri wa mtaalamu au kuzinunua kutoka kwa vyanzo visivyoidhinishwa. Daktari mtaalamu wa homoni Dkt Kirtida Acharya alisema Kenya inashuhudia ongezeko la unene kutokana na kisukari. Alisema hali hiyo inaweza kuongeza hatari ya magonjwa ya moyo, figo, baadhi ya saratani na matatizo ya afya ya akili. Dkt Acharya alisema semaglutide inaweza kuwafaa watu wenye kisukari kisichodhibitiwa vizuri, hasa wenye matatizo ya moyo au figo, pamoja na wenye unene ambao hawajafanikiwa kupunguza uzani kwa njia nyingine. Hata hivyo, alisisitiza kuwa dawa hiyo inapaswa kutolewa tu na daktari. "Usijinunulie dawa kwa kufuata mitindo ya mitandao ya kijamii; hilo ni hatari," alisema. Alisema wanawake wajawazito au wanaonyonyesha, pamoja na watu wenye historia ya saratani ya tezi au kuvimba kongosho, hawafai kutumia dawa hiyo.
